The National WIC Association came across the following article online titled, “Fire the Government Wet Nurse” on the National Review’s website. Due to the numerous blatant inaccuracies about the WIC Program, we felt it was necessary to post a response to correct the record. See below for an excerpt of the original article:

2012 NWA Nutrition & Breastfeeding Conference Planning Committee Volunteers Needed

The 2012 NWA Nutrition & Breastfeeding Conference will be held at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles, CA, September 10-12, 2012. NWA invites you to serve on the conference planning committee. Committee members will be responsible for participating in monthly conference calls and chairing subcommittees in the following areas: conference program, Evaluation and CEU application, poster session, round-table discussion groups, marketing, and entertainment.

NWA Calendar Task Force Vacancies

The NWA Calendar Task Force develops a nutrition education calendar for purchase by the Association membership and others each year. One vacancy currently exists for the 2011-12 Task Force: One (1) Local Agency Section Representative.

Task Force members participate in conference calls, assist in the identification of a calendar theme and monthly topic, develop WIC nutrition and health messages and other relevant contents, review and provide comments on design options, and assist with marketing and promotional strategies.

Are You Ready to Take Your Career in WIC to the Next Level?

The National WIC Association is pleased to announce that the NWA Leadership Academy (http://www.nwicaleadership.org/) is currently accepting applications from prospective students to enroll in the Academy’s second cohort. The first course, What it Means to be a WIC Leader, will begin on Monday, September 19, 2011 and conclude on Friday, December 2, 2011.

The NWA LA Certificate Program is comprised of four (4) courses – each 10 weeks in length:
