The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has announced plans to restructure its Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), including relocating WIC oversight staff and shifting from regional offices to new hubs across the country. The National WIC Association (NWA) strongly opposes the proposal, citing concerns about the loss of regional expertise, disruption to state and local operations, and lack of transparency and congressional approval. NWA is urging USDA to pause implementation and work with WIC stakeholders to avoid negatively impacting program access and effectiveness.
