On Friday, President Obama signed into law H.J. Res. 124, the Continuing Resolution (CR) that keeps the federal government and programs running until December 11th. The CR maintains funding for programs at FY2014 levels until it expires in mid-December.
House and Senate Appropriations Committees plan to begin working on a 12-bill omnibus FY2015 appropriations bill to bring to the House and Senate for consideration after the November federal election. However, Republican leadership notes that they may pursue another short-term CR to fund the government into the new calendar year, should Republicans gain majorities in both the Senate and House after the election.
