The National WIC Association (NWA) will host its 2021 virtual Biennial NWA WIC Technology, Program Integrity, and Vendor Management Education & Networking Conference and Exhibits, October 5 - 7, 2021.

This year's Conference Will be Virtual!

The Conference Sessions will be available for viewing until January 14, 2022.

This biennial Conference is an opportunity for you to network, share and learn about technological and program integrity innovations, EBT and directions for WIC’s future.

This Conference will provide options for improving WIC’s service delivery, and consumer and partner base at the state and local levels, enhancing Management Information Systems (MIS), addressing the importance and value of quality data collection, as well as systems and information security. 

We are expecting over 1000 attendees this year. Among them will be key decision makers representing the USDA/FNS, State, ITO, and Local WIC agencies, as well as vendors who participate in WIC and who provide WIC technology and program integrity services to the WIC Community.

Call for Papers (Abstracts)

All abstracts are due by Friday, August 20th, 2021 (deadline extended), and will be reviewed by the Technology Conference Program Planning Committee.

The National WIC Association invites members and partners to submit presentation and poster proposals for the 2021 Virtual  Biennial NWA WIC Technology, Program Integrity, and Vendor Management Education & Networking Conference and Exhibits, being held October 5 - 7, 2021.

To submit an abstract, click on this LINK. You will be asked to set-up a profile. After setting up your profile, you will then be given a ‘To-Do’ list – to submit your abstract, click on ‘Submit a Paper’ and follow the directions. For more information on how to submit an abstract see this GUIDE.

This biennial Conference is an important forum for sharing new ideas and learning from each other about technological and program integrity innovations, EBT, online shopping and directions for WIC’s future. We are seeking proposals surrounding the below topics:

  • Nutrition Education and BF Support

               - Telehealth – effectiveness and implementation

               - Social Media

               - Shopping Apps

               - Developing Participant Facing Technology

  • EBT – what’s next?

                - Using EBT data to inform decision making

                - EBT videos – promising practices

                - Measuring the impact of EBT on shopping behavior

              

Additional topics surrounding the conference theme of technology are welcome and encouraged.

 

All abstracts are due by Friday, August 20th, 2021 (deadline extended), and will be reviewed by the Technology Conference Program Planning Committee.

Proposal Guidelines

Authors will be prompted to provide the following information into the submission platform.

Sections:

  • Suggested topical track and presentation title
  • Abstract (The recommended proposal length is 400 words).
  • Need (a statement on the importance of the presentation)
  • Presenter information: name, institution, city, state, phone number, email address
  • Co-Author(s) Information: name/s, institution/s, email address/es, phone number/s, email address/es

A maximum of five presenters may be listed on each proposal. The submitting author will receive an email message confirming the receipt of the abstract proposal submission and are responsible for keeping co-authors up to date on the status of the submission. 

By submitting an abstract to be considered for an oral or poster presentation, you acknowledge that all presenting authors are responsible for their own registration.

  • Notification of Acceptance/Rejection: September 10th, 2021*
  • Speaker Packet Submission Deadline: September 24th, 2021*

Cancellation & Refund Policy

To cancel your registration, a written request MUST be received by NWA via email to [email protected] or fax to (202) 387-5281 no later than the close of business on September 10, 2021.

Cancellations received before or on September 10, 2021. will receive a 50% refund. No refunds will be granted on or after 12:00 AM ET on September 11, 2021.

  • NWA regrets that refunds will not be granted for no-shows. 
  • If you DO NOT CANCEL you are STILL RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYMENT! 
  • If registration fee is not paid, a hold will be placed on your account, preventing you from accessing your NWA Membership Benefits.

Online Registration

Online registrations are processed via our web-based system. Each registrant must have or create a profile (account) in order to register online. See instructions on creating a profile and logging in.

Please Make Sure Your Email Address Is Correct Before Registering!

Registration will close on Friday, September 24 at 11:59 pm ET.

Registrants using a Purchase Order (PO) or check, must select the "Bill Me Later" option from the online registration system when registering. Credit card payments will be processed via our secured Stripe site. The system will automatically email a registration confirmation to the email provided. If you do not receive a confirmation email, please contact the Registration Department at (202) 232-5492 or [email protected].

Please note that Registrants who have paid with Purchase Orders will not be allowed access to the Virtual Conference Platform until the purchase order is received by the Registration Manager, with a copy of the registration invoice.

  1. visit www.nwica.org and click "Log in" in the top right corner of the homepage. 
  2. Then enter your username (your email) and password.

Letter of Support from USDA FNS:

Dana Rasmussen, the Director of Supplemental Food Programs Division, sent a letter to all state agency WIC directors supporting the 2021 Biennial NWA WIC Technology, Program Integrity, and Vendor Management Conference. This letter confirmed that WIC Program funds may be used to fund travel expenses and registration fees for this conference.
