About the Summit

NWA’s WIC Leadership Summits

Strengthening Our WIC Voice

**This event is open to current state or local WIC staff only**

The National WIC Association (NWA) is convening a series of WIC Leadership Summits to bring together emerging and experienced WIC leaders in Washington, DC. As WIC program services transform to deliver a more modern participant experience and meet urgent public health challenges, this series of WIC Leadership Summits will provide an opportunity for State and local agency providers to deepen their understanding of the national WIC landscape and share their experience with colleagues and policymakers at a critical time for the program and public health.

This inaugural summit, WIC’s Role in Building Healthier Eating Patterns, will be held on September 13-14, 2023. The two-day summit will center on USDA’s proposed updates to the WIC food packages. State and local WIC providers will hear directly from experts about the importance of the WIC food package updates, connect with their colleagues from across the country, learn about how proposed changes in WIC issuance reflect broader dietary guidance, and share perspectives on nutrition education priorities and other efforts to implement the
upcoming rule.

NWA will be hosting an additional WIC Leadership Summits later this year. Attendance is limited to State and local WIC providers, and all WIC Leadership Summits are held in-person in Washington, DC.

Save the date!

  • WIC’s Role in Building Healthier Eating Patterns, to be held on September 13-14, 2023.
  • Remote Certifications and Modernizing WIC Services, to be held on November 6-7, 2023.
